We need over an hour to thoroughly assess your teeth and gums and develop an action plan for addressing problems. If you would like to have your cleaning done on the same day, you’ll need to factor that time into your appointment.
That depends on how long it’s been since your last cleaning and how healthy your gums are. Some patients only need two yearly cleanings. But others must adhere to a strict maintenance program of cleanings to have a healthy mouth.

PREVENTIVE CARE
The American Dental Association advises daily flossing and twice-daily tooth brushing. Even though some of our patients floss after every meal to be sure no food is left in their teeth, everyone should floss at least once a day as it can do wonders for their oral health.

At your next dental appointment, you can anticipate a thorough examination. You might need x-rays so the dentist can get a complete picture of your dental health, depending on how long it’s been since your last checkup. Your dentist will be able to identify any existing or potential problem areas using x-rays and visual examination.
If you don’t brush and floss daily, food particles remain in your mouth, causing bad breath.
Typically, dentists advise coming in for a checkup and cleaning every six months. But according to research, more frequent cleanings can occasionally be advantageous to your oral health.

Dental amalgam is a mixture of mercury, silver, copper, tin, and zinc that is used to fill cavities in teeth. It is sometimes referred to as a “silver filling” due to its appearance. Dental amalgam contains roughly half (50%) mercury by weight. The majority of evidence indicates that dental amalgam has no adverse health effects on the general population.
Many dental offices today only offer digital X-rays for patients. This not only reduces the dentist’s liability but also improves the patient experience. Digital dental x-rays, in particular, are less expensive, faster, clearer, and safer than traditional radiography.
Not only that, but digital x-rays make it easier to store your oral health records. Digital x-ray images, as opposed to traditional x-ray images, are stored in a computer system. This makes it easier to switch dentists without losing any of your medical information.

DENTAL HEALTHCARE
Tooth decay can occur when acid is produced by plaque that accumulates on your teeth. If plaque is allowed to accumulate, it can lead to additional issues such as dental caries (holes in the teeth), gum disease, or dental abscesses.
Plaque buildup at the gum line is the primary cause of bleeding gums. If plaque is not removed, it will harden into tartar. This will result in increased bleeding and periodontitis, a more advanced form of gum and jaw disease.
Your tooth enamel protective layer can wear away over time, exposing the soft, inner part of your tooth called dentin, which contains the nerves. Certain triggers, such as cold foods, drinks, or even a burst of air, can irritate the nerves, resulting in a brief, sharp pain.
Sipping water or other sugar-free fluids on a regular basis, chewing sugar-free gum, and using artificial saliva products may help prevent dry mouth. A room humidifier may also be beneficial.
The most common and serious dental problem associated with diabetes is gum disease, also known as periodontal gum disease. Without treatment, the disease progresses in stages, from inflamed gums to tooth loss. High blood glucose levels increase the likelihood that gum disease will progress from mild to severe.

I made my 1st visit to Airdrie Springs the other day and have no complaints with the service that I received. I'm one of those people that REALLY dislikes going to the dentist, as it causes me a great deal of anxiety. When I booked my appointment, I had requested to have Vicki as my hygienist, ,based on google reviews that I had previously read. Upon meeting Vicki, I explained my problem with anxiety and not only did she understand, but she conducted herself in a way in which helped to alleviate my anxiety. I will continue to use the services of Airdrie Springs Dental and would most certainly recommend them to anyone who like myself, is not at all comfortable with dentists. A big shout out to Vicki and her level of professionalism.

Been going here for a long while. The staff are always so nice to talk to, and are very personable. I met Vicki for the first time the other day. She was very professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and all around a kind person. My appointment was painless and very easy going. If you're in Airdrie and looking for a new dental office, look no further! 👍
