Cosmetic Vs. Restorative Dental Treatment
Unlike getting a porcelain crown or white filling, your new dental veneer is primarily used to aesthetically enhance your appearance as opposed to treating a problem such as a cavity.
First, a thin layer of your tooth is removed and an impression is taken. This allows the new restoration to fit like a glove, without making your smile look too bulky.
Next, our lab will create each veneer to reflect the precise anatomical features and coloration of your preference. We want them to look and feel both beautiful and natural all at the same time. In the meantime, we’ll apply temporary veneers over your teeth to prevent any sensitivity.
About two weeks later, you’ll come back by our Airdrie dental office for our dentists to bond your new veneers into place. Once you look in the mirror, it will seem like you get to walk out with an entirely different smile!
Caring For Your Veneers
It’s important to carefully clean your veneers daily to prevent any unwanted infections or decay from developing around them. Brush and floss regularly and continue to see us for preventive cleanings. If you tend to grind your teeth, wearing a bite splint can protect against accidental fractures.
