Extractions

Your Location for Airdrie Tooth Extractions

At Airdrie Springs Dental , there are several different reasons why we might recommend having a tooth pulled. Although we typically recommend keeping your natural teeth, it’s not always possible to do so. Some of the situations where it might be better to perform an extraction include:

• Emergencies, such as broken or cracked teeth after an accident
• Severe periodontal (gum) disease
• Impacted wisdom teeth
• Limited space prior to orthodontic therapy
• Advanced, non-restorable tooth decay

Replace Your Missing Tooth

When a tooth is pulled, it creates extra space inside of your mouth. This can lead to your other teeth moving or drifting from their current position. Even opposing teeth may start to drift out of their socket.

As such, it’s best to replace your missing tooth as quickly as possible. The best option is usually getting a dental implant, but other alternatives include bridges or partial dentures. The sooner you do so, the better! Just ask us which one is right for you; you might have more than one option.

Ensuring Your Comfort

During any dental extraction, we’ll provide local anesthetic to numb the area around your tooth. But you can always request dental sedation to help you relax even further. Options like nitrous oxide (laughing gas) can be added onto your regular visit, or we can book a deeper sedation appointment with oral or IV sedation.

Saving Your Smile

Instead of opting straight for a dental extraction, ask our Airdrie dentists if it is possible to salvage your natural tooth. It may be that a root canal, porcelain crown, or even a white filling can help you avoid a future oral surgery. The sooner you look after your smile, the better it will treat you!
